Activating your account

To learn who can activate an account and how to activate, please visit Account activation.

Registering

The Register option is for

  • non-solicitor employees of law firms who wish to update organisation details on behalf of their firm,
  • new non-lawyer managers or material interest holders and new other lawyer managers or material interest holders who do not already have an SRA ID number,
  • individuals who are in the process of being nominated as a compliance officer for legal practice (COLP) or a compliance office for finance and administration (COFA) who do not already have an SRA ID number,
  • individuals who want to apply to become registered European lawyers or registered foreign lawyers for the first time.

As the range of mySRA services increases—to include a broad range of authorisation applications—other types of user may also need to register.

Please do not use the Register option if you are one of the following members of our regulated community. Instead, please visit Account activation.

  • Solicitors
  • Registered European lawyers
  • Registered foreign lawyers
  • Non-lawyer managers (if you already have an SRA ID number)
  • Other lawyer managers (if you already have an SRA ID number)

If you are a non-solicitor employee of a law firm and need to update organisation details on behalf of your firm, please register with mySRA.

If you are a new non-lawyer manager, a new other lawyer manager or you are in the process of being nominated as a compliance officer for legal practice (COLP) or a compliance office for finance and administration and you do not already have an SRA ID number, please register with mySRA.

Should you activate or register?

In this short video clip (3m), we explain who should "activate" a mySRA account and who, by contrast, should "register" to create a mySRA account.
