LSB Transparency Project: Getting the true picture
SRA Update Issue 24 – May 2012
In response to the Legal Services Board requirement on Approved Regulators, we submitted our implementation strategy to them earlier this year which outlines our plan to gather comprehensive diversity and social mobility data about the legal services workforce.
This opportunity will give individuals in a firm or workforce (both lawyer and non-lawyer), an opportunity to self-classify against the following characteristics:
- ethnic group
- religion or belief
- sexual orientation
- socio-economic background
- caring responsibilities
We will also be engaging with firms and are going to carry out a thematic pilot study to assess the support and guidance firms may need to comply with Principle 9 and the requirement to collect diversity data.
We will be providing more information on our plans to gather diversity monitoring data during the next few months.
