Your role as an authorised training provider

Candidates can only qualify through this route if they meet our transitional requirements.

If they do not meet these, they will need to qualify under the SQE.

As an authorised training provider, you have responsibilities under the SRA Education, Training and Assessment Provider Regulations.

You must make sure that any period of recognised training that you provide:

  • ensures that the trainee applies and develops the skills set out in the Practice Skills Standards
  • is appropriately supervised by solicitors and other individuals who have adequate legal knowledge and experience in the practice area they are supervising and the necessary skills to provide effective supervision
  • includes regular appraisal of the trainee's performance and development, and review of the trainee's record of training.
