Warning: Contact misusing the name of 'Colvin & Partners'

Contact has been made by an individual called 'Stephen Hall' claiming to be a 'Solicitor and Managing Partner' at 'Colvins & Partners or 'Colvins and Partners' in relation to supposed passport processing.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that an individual called 'Stephen Hall' claiming to be a 'Solicitor and Managing Partner ' of 'Colvins & Partners' or 'Colvins and Partners' has made contact in relation to passport processing.

An email address of 'stephen.hall@colvinsandpartners.co.uk' was provided. Another email address for an individual called 'Anthony Emmanuelle' of 'anthony.emmanuelle@colvinsandpartners.co.uk' was also provided.

The website 'www.colvinsandpartners.co.uk' and a telephone number of '+44 (0) 203 538 0037 was also provided.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate any genuine firms called 'Colvins & Partners' or 'Colvins and Partners'. The SRA does not authorise or regulate any genuine solicitor called 'Anthony Emmanuelle'.

The contact misuses the name of the genuine firm (see below).

Any business or transaction through the above website and contact details is not undertaken by a solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Colvin & Partners. The firm's genuine contact number is 0208 952 7666 and the email address is colvin@colvinandpartners.com.

The genuine website for the firm is www.colvinandpartners.com - however the firm's website is currently under construction.

The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no genuine connection to the contact made or website referred to in the above alert.

The SRA authorises and regulates several genuine solicitors named ‘Stephen Hall’ none of whom are believed to have any connection to the letter referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means.
