A website at 'www.edwardharrisonlaws.com' is operating, claiming to be a law firm called 'Edward Harrison Solicitors'.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.edwardharrisonlaws.com' is operating and claiming to be a law firm called 'Edward Harrison Solicitors'.

The website provides an email address of 'info@edwardharrisonlaws.com'.

The website claims to have 'Edward Dorfman', 'Alam George', 'Joseph Pelletier', 'Amoretti A.P Roberto' as 'partners' at the firm. 

The SRA has been informed that a letter has been sent to a member of the public from an individual called 'Edward Harrison', claiming to an Associate at 'Edward Harrison Solicitors' The letter relates to a supposed unclaimed permanent life insurance.

The letter provides the above website and email address and further email addresses of 'edward@edawrdharsolicit.com' and 'edharrisonlaw416@gmail.com'. It also includes a telephone number of '+44 745 233 0409'.

The website and letter misuse the address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Edward Harrison Solicitors' nor does it authorise and regulate solicitors called 'Edward Dorfman', 'Alam George', 'Joseph Pelletier', or 'Amoretti A.P Roberto'.

Any business or transactions through 'Edward Harrison Solicitors' or any of the contact details above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called Ison Harrison Limited. Its registered address is at Duke House, Wellington St, Leeds LS1 2EE. Its telephone number is 01132845000. Its website is www.isonharrison.co.uk and its email domain ends with @isonharrison.co.uk.

The SRA authorises and regulates several solicitors called Edward Harrison. It is believed none of the genuine solicitors have any connection to the letter or website referred to in the alert above.

The genuine firm Ison Harrison Limited has confirmed they do not have any connection to the letter or website referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
