Emails have been sent misusing the name of Jay Binglam Solicitors Limited which included attachments.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent misusing the name and email address of a genuine firm of solicitors.
It is understood that the emails contained attachments, and the recipients were prompted to open them. A concern is that they may contain malware.
The emails contained the email address 'fpang@jblsolicitor.com' (note the missing 's'). The emails also included the telephone numbers '+44(0) 20 4582 5260' and '+44(0) 20 4581 5219' and the fax number '+44(0) 20 7940 9897'.
Any business or transactions through the email address 'fpang@jblsolicitor.com', the telephone numbers '+44(0) 20 4582 5260' and '+44(0) 20 4581 5219' or the fax number '+44(0) 20 7940 9897' is not authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Jay Binglam Solicitors Limited. Emails from the firm use the domain '@jblsolicitors.com'. The firm's main line telephone number is +44(0) 20 4582 5200 and its fax number is 02079909898.
The genuine firm of Jay Binglam Solicitors Limited has confirmed it has no connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
