Warning: 'RFranklyn Solicitors' claiming to be a law firm

A website at www.rogerfsolicitors.co.uk is operating and claiming to be a law firm called 'RFranklyn Solicitors'.

What is the scam?

A website at www.rogerfsolicitors.co.uk is operating and claiming to be a law firm called 'RFranklyn Solicitors'.

The website provides the telephone number '+44 1444 390700', a fax number of '+44 1615095931' and an email address of 'info@rogerfsolicitors.co.uk'. It provides an office address of '26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT'.

A letter has also been sent from 'Roger H Franklyn' of 'RFranklyn Solicitors'. The letter says that the recipient is the beneficiary of a 'permanent life insurance policy'.

The letter provides the same contact details as above, apart from the address which is '6 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT'.

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'RFranklyn Solicitors' or a solicitor called 'Roger H Franklyn'.

Any business or transaction through 'RFranklyn Solicitors' or any of the contact details above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a solicitor called Roger Thomas Franklin.

Roger Thomas Franklin has confirmed that he has no connection to the letter or website referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
