Warning: Website misusing the name of Tai He Law Firm Ltd and emails misusing the name of Michael Burdon

The websites at 'www.taihelawfirm.com' is operating misusing the name of Tai He Law Firm Ltd.

What is the scam?

The website at 'www.taihelawfirm.com/' is operating misusing the name and registered address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). The website provides a telephone number of '+44 2071938010' and an email address of 'info@taihelawfirm.com'.

The SRA has seen several emails from an individual misusing the name of a genuine solicitor (see below). The emails were sent using email addresses of 'michael@wozilawfirm.com' and 'Michael@tailawfirm.com' with the subject heading 'Urgent: Take immediate action to Protect your Trademark'.

The SRA has seen another email sent from an individual called 'Eric Leicht' claiming to be an Intellectual Property Solicitor. The sender, 'Eric Leicht' contacted a genuine organisation, claiming that an unknown applicant was seeking exclusive trademark rights over the organisation company name and urging them to take immediate action.

The email was sent using an email address of 'ericleicht@taihelawfirm.com'.

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a solicitor called 'Eric Leicht'.

Any business or transactions through the website or email addresses set out above are not undertaken by a firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Tai He Law Firm Ltd trading as Tai He Solicitors, whose Head Office is at 76 King Street Manchester M2 4NH. The website is at www.thsolicitor.com, (which is under construction), the email domain for the firm ends with @thsolicitors.com. The telephone number is +44 161 838 4240.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Michael Burdon.

Tai He Law Firm Ltd and Michael Burdon have confirmed they do not have any connection to the emails above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
