Warning: Emails misusing the name of Hunters Law LLP

Emails have been sent misusing the name of Samuel Isaac of Hunters Law LLP, attaching a non-disclosure agreement.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that emails have been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The email seen by the SRA advises the recipient to view a non-disclosure agreement. A concern is that the document may contain malware. The email was sent from the domain name '@hunterslawfirm.com' and provided a contact number of '+44 7584462410'. The email also misused a postal address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transaction through the domain name '@hunterslawfirm.com', or the contact number '+44 7584462410' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises a firm of solicitors called Hunters Law LLP.

The firm's head office address is 9 New Square, Lincoln's Inn, London, WC2A 3QN and its contact number is 02074 120050.

The firm's email domain ends in @hunterslaw.com.

The SRA authorises and regulates Samuel Isaac, a solicitor at Hunters Law LLP.

Hunters Law LLP has confirmed that neither it nor its Samuel Isaac have any connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.  

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
