What is the scam?
A website at 'www.northridgefirms.co.uk' is misusing the name of a law firm (see below).
The website refers to 'Northridgelaw Chambers & Solicitors'.
The website includes the email address 'info@northridgefirms.co.uk' and telephone number '+44 745 221 4383'.
The website provides a postal address which is used by a number of genuine firms.
The website also lists a number of individuals some of whom are not genuine solicitors; 'Amandine Felix Jean-Marc', 'Stanley Ebrahim', 'Jeremy-UDO', 'Frank McAderson', 'Hellen James', 'Holly Izi', 'Alice Adam', 'Humphrey S. Bright', 'Helen-Hurford', 'Steve Anthony' and 'Beck Tom G'.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Northridgelaw Chambers & Solicitors'.
Any business or transactions through 'Northridgelaw Chambers & Solicitors', the website 'www.northridgefirms.co.uk', the email address 'info@northridgefirms.co.uk', the telephone number '+44 745 221 4383' or any of the individuals listed above, is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Northridge Law LLP which trades as Northridge. Its genuine website is 'www.northridgelaw.com'. The genuine firm's address is 90 Bartholomew Close, London, EC1A 7BN. The telephone number used by the firm is '+44 (0)20 3957 8800'.
The website lists the names of number of genuine solicitors, none of which are thought to have any connection to the website.
The genuine firm of Northridge Law LLP has confirmed that it does not have any connection to the website referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
