Decision details
Between 17 October 2014 and 15 September 2017, Mrs Tansey was employed first as a paralegal and then as a trainee solicitor by DWF LLP. The firm dismissed her on 15 September 2017 for gross misconduct shortly before the end of her training contract.
The following findings were made in relation to Mrs Tansey:
- She disclosed confidential information and personal data to a third party on multiple occasions without the firm’s authority.
- In breach of her contracts of employment, she failed to obtain the firm’s prior written consent for her to engage in outside businesses and/or employment arrangements.
It was found that her conduct breached SRA Principles 2, 4, 5 and 6 and failed to achieve outcome 4.1 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011.
An order was made pursuant to section 43(2) of the Solicitors Act 1974 in relation to Mrs Tansey. She was also given a written rebuke and was ordered to pay a £2,000 financial penalty. She was also ordered to pay the SRA’s costs of £1,350 in investigating this matter.
Mrs Tansey is not currently working at, or for, an SRA regulated practice.
