HM Treasury sanctions UK far-right group
05 February 2025
On 8 January 2025, HM Treasury placed sanctions on a domestic far-right group, Blood & Honour, freezing their assets under the Counter-Terrorism (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. This is the first time that these measures have been applied to a far-right group.
The reasons for this are that Blood & Honour has been, and is:
- facilitating, promoting and encouraging terrorism via its dissemination of music whose content promotes and encourages terrorism
- making funds available for the purposes of terrorism via the generation of funds through events it arranges for the purposes of furthering its own terrorist activities
- carrying out recruitment activities for a person involved in terrorism, namely itself.
The Financial Sanctions Notice sets out at Annex 1 the group's various aliases, associated email addresses and websites, as well as a list of actions to take. Anyone holding affected assets must:
- freeze the assets
- not deal with the assets directly or indirectly
- report to the Office for Financial Sanctions Implementation.
