SRA Update

We published an SRA Update earlier this month, but whether it is the imminent deadline for practising certificate or firm renewals, our upcoming Compliance Conference or the publication of the LSB’s report into Axiom Ince intervention, we felt it was timely to send you an update on the latest news and developments. There is also updated resources to help firms comply with our transparency rules.
The Legal Services Board (LSB) have published their report into the events leading up to the intervention into Axiom Ince. At the heart of this issue was a suspected complex and well-hidden fraud carried out by a solicitor, with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Serious Fraud Office. We have published our response to the LSB’s report.

The deadline to renew your practising certificate or complete bulk firm renewals is imminent. You must renew by close of play Thursday 31 October. Visit our website to see the application questions and access supporting guidance.
Our 2024/25 Business Plan outlines our key priorities and areas of work for the year ahead. Following consultation and stakeholder feedback, the new business plan takes into account new and emerging risks in the sector.
Our current Corporate Strategy sets out our purpose as being to drive confidence and trust in the sector. We wanted to know what current levels were and how best to increase them. Independent research agency, Thinks Insight and Strategy, carried out research with around 3,400 stakeholders – including consumers and legal professionals - over the spring and summer. It showed that most people have trust and confidence in legal services.
